Mediation is a process whereby third neutrals (mediators) meet with participants to help them resolve issues through communication. Mediation is voluntary for participants and co-mediators. All participants may end the mediation, at any time, if they are feeling uncomfortable. Mediation is neutral, in that the co-mediators will not judge, provide advice, or make decisions for participants. Participants come up with their own solutions through the mediation process with help from the co-mediators. Mediation is a confidential process.
While the main goal of mediation is to settle a conflict by reaching a mutual agreement, mediation also promotes communication and cooperation. It allows participants to control the decisions that affect their lives. We can help participants discover solutions that will work for all involved.
